This certificate is designed to allow candidates to demonstrate the knowledge required to successfully perform tasks and comply with legislation involved in being a manager, designer or technical officer. This course is for those that do not physically install TTM, but do have responsibility for the works - as such, it is a standalone unit which has no prerequisites. The candidate will be able to understand the various terminologies, legislations and categories of traffic management. The candidate must also be able to understand their responsibilities as a manager, designer or technical officer, and be able to assess ongoing works whilst on-site. The candidate will also be able to navigate set scenarios of temporary traffic managements and remedy issues where needed.

The unit assessment will typically take place over the course of two days 

Successful completion of this certificate will award the candidate with an M7 award.

    Understanding Traffic Management Health & Safety Issues

    Understanding how to interpret the requirements of ‘The Safety at Street Works and Road Works, A Code of Practice (The Red Book)’ and further guidance from ‘ The Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 8’

    Understanding all options available to determine the level and extent of the Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) required

    Understanding the site Risk Assessment process

    Understanding temporary traffic layout required for a given work location, activity or operation

    Understanding the standard of equipment that is acceptable to use

    Understanding the implications of changing conditions on site

    Understanding how to liaise with site staff for appropriate remedial actions

    Understanding how to confirm suitability of TTM plans prior to work starting on site

    Understanding the requirements of non-motorised road users

    Understanding the requirements of convoy working.
