This certificate has been designed to allow the candidate to understand and demonstrate knowledge of the potentially dangerous health risks associated with working with asbestos and materials containing asbestos. The candidate will learn the correct health and safety procedures when coming into contact with asbestos, or materials containing asbestos within the workplace. Please note that this course does not qualify or permit the learner to actively handle asbestos or asbestos-containing materials, as a higher level of training is required to comply with legislation with the handling of asbestos.
The unit teaching will typically take place over the course of half a day
Understanding asbestos, types of asbestos and its main historic uses.
Understanding the risks and health risks from asbestos exposure.
Understanding the PPE required when coming into contact with asbestos or asbestos-containing materials.
Understanding the broad requirements of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and how that applies to their role/their workplace.
Understanding what to do in the situation where they or another discovers or disturbs asbestos or asbestos-containing materials.
This course can be delivered at either of our training centres or at your own location providing you have the space and equipment.
