This course is aimed at people who want to gain entry into the lifting industry.
We will conduct a learner analysis to identify the duration of training required for those with limited or no experience, whereas experienced operators can attend a one day Experienced Worker Assessment (Test Only).
Understanding the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and responsibilities as an operator
Conforming to manufacturers requirements as per technical data and confirming to relevant regulations and legislation
Locating, identifying and explaining different types of lifting equipment and lifting accessories
Interpreting and extracting information on all relevant documentation
Undertaking all pre-use checks on non-specialist lifting accessories and identifying non-servicable items
Explaining procedures for placing non-serviceable items out of service
Identifying and explaining centres of gravity and calculating the estimated weight of loads
Setting up an exlusion zone, explaining actions required for emergency actions and identifying overhead hazards
Identifying and maintaining PPE appropriate for slinger signaller
Securing varius types of load to a hook using relevant lifting accessories and procedures ensuring load balance, security and integrity
Directing and guiding movement of loads to different types of locations using different methods of communication
Understanding environmental conditions
Carrying out all out-of-service and securing procedures
