Course Unit: NPORS: Telescopic Handler Suspended Loads - N138 - Test

Aimed at operators who require a thorough understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements applicable to suspending loads using a telescopic handler (telehandler).

We will conduct a learner analysis to identify the duration of training required for those with limited or no experience, whereas experienced operators can attend a one day Experienced Worker Assessment (Test Only).

Understanding the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and responsibilities as an operator

Conforming to manufacturers requirements as per technical data and confirming to relevant regulations and legislation

Locating, identifying and explaining safe working loads and lifting capacity chart

Explaining how to reduce lifting capacity in moving a suspended load, different lifting configurations and working ranges

Identifying and explaining differing lifting procedures and explaining how differing lifting procedures are categorised

Identifying and explaining centres of gravity and calculate estimatesd weight of loads

Identifying any overhead or proximity hazards

Ensuring telescopic handler is in a safe conditions with attachments fitted correctly

Checking load integrity and security

Being able to lift, move and land a load to a designated position in a safe and controlled manner, ensuring minimum uncontrolled movement

Understanding environmental conditions

Carrying out all out-of-service and securing procedures
