The NPORS Shunter Vehicle course is for drivers who do not hold an HGV licence but are required to 'shunt' vehicles etc. around on company premises. Shunter training allows these drivers to drive maximum weight articulated and rigged vehicles on-site only around the business premises.
We will conduct a learner analysis to identify the duration of training required for those with limited or no experience, whereas experienced operators can attend a one day Experienced Worker Assessment.
Understanding the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and responsibilities as an operator
Understanding the manufacturer's handbook for the shunter vehicle
Locating and identifying major components of the machine and explaining their function
Locating and identifying key controls and explaining their function
Conducting all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer's and legislative requirements
Identifying and maintaining PPE appropriate for shunter vehicle use
Conducting all necessary safety checks at the work area
Preparing the shunter vehicle for use and operating machinery safely and efficiently
Attaching and setting trailers ready for operation
Understanding environmental conditions
Transporting and uncoupling shunter vehicle attachments
Carrying out all end of work and shut down procedures
This course can be delivered at our venue near Portsmouth or at your venue if you have the required space and equipment.
