The candidate will be aware of the laws regarding manual handling, and able to recall the principles of safe manual handling, as well as the control measures and procedures in place to reduce the risks of harm from manual handling. Candidates will be aware of the key musculoskeletal groups involved in repetitive manual handling tasks and the types of injuries these groups within the body can sustain with improper manual handling. The candidate will also be able to carry out a risk assessment on manual handling tasks, with knowledge of the types of risks that certain tasks can produce.
